Henry Latimer is sent to work for industrialist Sir Edward Ashmore-Percy, and is taken in both by his magnetic charisma, and his mysterious business: the production of a rare spider-silk which has the power to shut out sound completely. But soon Henry discovers that the fascinating material is to be used for nefarious purposes - is he in too deep to turn back?
